A word that conjures up images of hard-working men and women, Gamcha has been the essential companion of the working class through the ages. Known for its super absorbent qualities, Gamcha or Gamocha as it is also known comes from “ga” meaning “body” and “mocha” meaning “to wipe”.

This weaving industry is the oldest and largest in the state of Bengal, where traditional techniques and weaving secrets are held as sacred and are passed down for generations.
